12/21 Days of Prayer

READ:

Ephesians 4:32 (NKJV)
And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
This one stings a little, to say the least! We’ve all been hurt by someone close to us. More than likely, by this point in our lives, we have been wronged or betrayed by someone. I’m from Texas and was raised by aunts and uncles who were Texan, and if you crossed them you were forever on the unforgiven list. All of us have people that we don’t want to forgive. You may have had unspeakable things done to you. Things I couldn’t imagine. The Bible isn’t saying that the wrong they did to you is right.

The Bible is just saying, “Forgive the people who have wronged you because Jesus forgave you of everything wrong you have ever done.”

That’s why we forgive – because God has forgiven us. We also forgive because it frees us. I love this quote by Lewis B. Smedes: “To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.”

PRAY:

Lord, help me to forgive the people in my life that have hurt me deeply. Give me the strength to let this pain go so I can be free to be all You have called me to be.
